Tabiano Castle dates back to the 11th century and was built on the ruins of an old Roman settlement. It was the military stronghold of the Pallavicino family, one of the most powerful families of the era, which dominated this strategic area during the centuries of struggle between the Imperial and Vatican forces. Tabiano Castle has been at the centre of many historic events and presides over the rich salt wells and olive groves aswell as the old pilgrim road to Rome Via Francigena. Tabiano Castello is right in the heart of an area which is rich in historical and cultural treasures. A visit to the many wonderful medieval castles of Parma is a must, they are among the oldest in Italy and steeped in history.

We have 40 rooms, suites and apartments to choose from, divided between the old guard tower and the original main residence, each offering magnificent views of the countryside and the wide plains of the River Po. In village at Tabiano Castello you can eat at the excellent Locanda del Colle restaurant which is well known for its culinary tradition and wine cellar. You can try Porcini mushrooms and truffles when they are in season. Naturally the traditional products such as Parmesan and Parma Ham and Culatello that have made the region famous throughout the world can be tasted at the Relais and products of the area can be bought at reception.
