review about A casa di Serena

Serena is a marvelous hostess with a powerful sense of what it takes to welcome and relax you after a hectic day of travel. We enjoyed room 5, the family room, with calming blue decor, a private bath with lots of space for a Rome hotel, and a large outdoor patio. As stated, Serena welcomed us on a hot afternoon with cool peach tea. A tray with gift boxed chocolate treats and champagne sat on one bed, and cold bottled water awaited in the mini-refrigerator. There was a flat panel television mounted close to the high ceilings and she sat with us for 30 minutes explaining the room and preparing us for a couple of days in Rome. Serena's is not a full-service hotel. There are only 5 rooms, and there is a hall bath that might be shared. Imagine you have a wealthy Roman cousin who has offered you her place in town and you'll understand. You feel the place is your own - you have a set of keys (for the buildings outer and inner doors, the main door to the B&B, and your room) and you'll rarely run into another guest. The building is quiet and solid and feels safe, with a gated entry and strong metal shutters which Serena asks that you lock when out of the room. The neighborhood did not feel upscale, but neither was it frightening. We came and went at any hour and the streets were well-lit and busy. Your walk to St Peter's square is about 20 minutes. If it's hot, you'll want to be sure to choose the side of the street in shadow. The closest city attraction is the Vatican Museum. Next closest is the east entrance of St Peter's Square. Anything else is easily accessible by metro, only one block from Serena's. If you're new to Rome, we recommend finding the bus stop directly in front of St Peter's Square and taking one of the double decker city tour busses. The red '110' busses were the most plentiful, which is good if you don't want to wait long for the next bus. We took the also-red CityTours Rome bus, which came often enough and had an interesting narration. Serena has relationships with antico caffe Doria, just across the street and down about a block, for the 'breakfast' part of the B&B experience. It is a typical Roman cafe with fresh and delicious pastries and of course wonderful espresso. You are entitled to a pastry, espresso, and juice daily, and it's a great place to pick up a few bottled drinks for your day of walking in Rome. Upon departure, make sure to ask for Alex to take you to the airport. His charges are more reasonable than the car you arrived in, I promise, and he is a polite and friendly gentleman we were pleased to have met. A Casa di Serena is charming enough (and being in Rome helps, of course) to make my top 10 list of places I have personally stayed in my life. It is unique, clean, comfortable, calm, and welcoming. On my next visit to Rome, I will spend at least 3-4 days with Serena, perhaps more, and will be sad when I leave.

I have travelled extensively, on six continents. A casa di Serena was better than we ever imagined.Beautifully decorated, it was like staying in a luxury art gallery. Attentive service, great location. Breakfast is served at a cafe accross the street. Nice people. Great coffee. Very accomodating. We arrived by car. Easy to find. Only negative was the bathroom, though private, was down the hall, outside your room. I would highly recommend A casa di Serena!

Cosy and comfortable apartments, very attentive, helpful and hospitable people made our stay in Rome pleasant and full of positive emotions. I will definitely choose A Casa di Serena for my future visits and recommend to my friends.

Our stay was amazing. It was a great location very near the Metro station and a short walk to the Vatican. I went with three friends and the four of us were very comfortable in the room. Serena was amazing. She was very interested in making sure that our trip was enjoyable. She gave us tips about the city and places to go. She was very helpful. Thanks so much for everything!

Our family would absolutely recommend A Casa di Serena! The room was clean and comfortable. Serena is so welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed the simple breakfast at the lovely cafe. The location is very convenient to the Vatican and the metro train stop is a short walk. We did use the pick up service from the airport which Serena had arranged for us. We'd recommend that also. We had a wonderful stay.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Casa di Serena. The location was wonderful. It is just a short walk from the metro stop and on the corner of a main street with a fountain and piazza nearby to help you find your way. Even though it is on a main street we heard no street traffic from our room and were able to sleep very comfortably. The B&B is located within walking distance of the Vatican and Vatican museums. Everything else is a metro ride away. By staying here we were more immersed in a true Roman neighborhood rather than a loud, stereotypical tourist area. The B&B is gorgeous. It felt as if we were returning home every evening. It is located in a very well kept and secure apartment building which had an elevator (great for luggage!). The common area has lovely artwork and posh furnishings. We stayed in the blue room with a double bed. It has a window that looks onto a balcony. The room and bathroom were spotless. The hair dryer and bath products were great conveniences. The champagne, chocolates and cookies were a luxurious little touch. We can't wait to return. A presto! Luisa and Sergio

Very clean, quiet and charming place. Near the subway and within walking distance to the Vatican. Use their pick up service from the airport. It is difficult to find for the first time, unmarked.

review about A casa di Serena

We so enjoyed our four night stay at Casa di Serena. We were close to the Metro and a short walk from the Vatican. We liked that it was a quieter part of town but that we could easily get to the Metro to travel to other parts of Rome quickly. The room was very nice. We were four meters from our private bathroom in the hallway that had a great shower, lots of hot water and many places to hang your clothes and towels (this always frustrates me when hotel bathrooms don't have places to hang stuff) We didn't mind that we had to use vouchers and walk across street for breakfast it was fun to be in a local morning spot and people-watch. We found a great "internet point" near the Cipro Metro spot only a few blocks away from the hotel that had fast, cheap internet. We were within walking distance to good eateries and gelato places. We would definitely return to Casa di Serena!

Casa di Serena is a great place to stay when you want to explore Rome. It is like having your own apartment in the city. The place is nicely decorated, clean and the people are nice. They respect your privacy and it is so much more romantic than a hotel room. (And less expensive too). Thanks again for making Christmas 2008 unforgetable!

Excellent service and hospitality! The room and bathroom were well furnished! The pictures and the information page in web site are accurate. They provided walking maps and various brochure information on Rome as well as restaurant recommendations. In all we were very pleased and would not hesitate to return. Thank you Serena!

We spent some lovely days in the eternal city of Rome ... As a daily starting point, the Casa di Serena is a good place; it's close to the metro station which is a big advantage. The welcome was very friendly and warm and we feld immediately at ease and were happily surprized by the little bottle of sparkling wine! Though breakfast is simple and not in the Casa itself, just walking a hundred meters over the daily market and having a real Italian coffee amongst the Italians is a very nice experience. We were happy to find some tourist information in our nice romantic room... so we can easily recommend Casa di Serena to everyone.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was very considerate and polite and helpful. The location was close to bus or subway which got us where we wanted to go quickly. There were 5 in our family so the rates were very fair for that amount of people in Rome. we even got breakfast! We would have no worries about booking there again. It was very clean. The B&B is ideally situated near Vatican City so good for early starts to that and St. Peter's Bascillica. It is also close to the metro. The room we had was superb for a family of four. It had a balcony with furniture which we didn't expect and a washing machine in the ensuite. The entire apartment was beautifully furnished as the pictures on the net show and everything was very clean. A small bottle of champagne and sweets and biscuits also added a very personal touch. Serena and her staff were very helpful and friendly. So why aren't I giving this place 10 out of 10? That's because breakfast was not provided on the premises. We were given vouchers to take to a nearby cafe where we had the choice of a great coffee, fruit juice and wait for it....one croissant....no butter, jam or anything else. We enjoy a hearty breakfast and this wasn't enough for us so we had to supplement this with other goodies from the bakery...not that healthy a start to the day! The service at the cafe was "brisk" and not over friendly. We had great weather so didn't really mind trekking there but in bad weather or with young children this would not be the best scenario. We had difficulty finding really good Italian food in the evenings. The restaurant next door to the B&B and all the others we tried didn't really offer good value for money nor great Italian food. Best to go to the nearby supermarket for wine, fruit and salad and buy take away pizza from the place opposite the metro and make use of that balcony. We had a great trip to Rome. Don't hesitate to go there yourself!

Dear Brooks family, thank you very much for your message, for your appreciation and for your feedback! As for the breakfast we have to say that rules in Italy are quite strict and we cannot offer on site fresh things as croissant, bread and we cannot cook. As you know we offer tea and coffee facilities in the room and with this we include also sweets and singularly packed things to eat, and guests can always ask for more we. We are now improving the service at the bar, which we use to allow our guests to taste fresh products and a really good espresso and cappuccino. Thanks you very much for your detailed message and we hope to see you soon in Rome!

We just loved our stay at Casa di Serena. It is a 5 minute walk from the Metro, which is great. Lots of shops, restaurants within walking distance. The Vatican is about a 10-15 minutes walk which is also nice. Very clean, nice linens/towels, comfortable bed, refrigerator in the room, ect. It is hard to find the first time you arrive. Maybe more detailed directions once you get off the Metro. Also, as Americans it would've been nice to have one TV station that was in English. Not that we watched much TV but it would've been nice to listen to CNN or something in the morning while we got ready or late in the evening before bed. Overall, we loved our stay and will definately stay here again if we come back to Rome. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!!

Dear Carol Bell, Thank you very much for your message! Anyway it is really a pity! That you didn't notice that the TV in the room has cable TV channels (BBC World for news) and in the living room the TV (36 inch Lcd SONY HD) has satellite TV channels which includes CNN! Thanks again and we hope to see you soon in Rome! Serena

We (2 adults and 3 kids) were staying at B&B A casa di Serena for four nights and we all enjoyed a lot our staying. The place and location were excellent. The room was nice and clean. Everything was in order when we came back from our daily trips. We recommend this B&B A casa di Serena. Rome and staying in this B&B was a great experience for us. Accommodation served the main purpose of the trip: to have some rest, easy time with the family and getting known Vatican City and Rome.

Serena, the owner and host, was very gracious and accomodating. She answered all of our many questions and helped us in setting up reservations to museums. Excellent place and location. Good accommodation perfectly situated for visiting Vatican City and Rome. The room was very clean, everything was very well decorated! The bottle of sparkling wine, sweets, chocolates and fresh flowers ....the best we experienced in Italy! (We also stayed in Florence and Venice). The Italian-style breakfast was wonderful, served at the nearby high quality bar typically Roman ! Area surrounding of the B&B has lots of small restaurants and all meals were excellent. My wife and I would highly recommend this B&B A casa di Serena, she and her wonderful staff made our stay in Rome a great experience!

We enjoyed the days in casa di Serena which were our honeymoon. The bed and breakfast is only 5 Minutes far away from the Met and nearly Vatican. The rooms are commodly and clean with a very friendly Serena. Surround there are many coffeshops and restaurants. In the morning you can enjoy the market with fresh fruits, fish, cakes etc. only one street away. Casa di Serena is a optimal bed and breakfast for beautiful days in Rome! But remember, that in winter the nights can be cold and if you want to sleep with open window it could be a little bit loud, because the rooms are near a big street.
